This course explores the radical ecological philosophy of Deep Ecology. Students will investigate the transition from anthropocentric to ecocentric worldviews, examining the intrinsic value of non-human nature, Arne Næss’s ecosophy, ecological selfhood, and eco-grief. The course also critically analyzes industrial civilization, addresses social ecology and environmental justice critiques, and translates philosophical inquiry into personal action, culminating in an experiential field of study.
