Strategic Management in Tourism and Hospitality Industry introduces students to the concepts, tools, and practices used to develop and execute strategy in tourism, hospitality, and destination contexts. The course examines how tourism organizations and destinations respond to dynamic environments shaped by seasonality, service quality, technology platforms, competition, sustainability pressures, and shocks such as crises and disasters. Students learn to conduct internal and external analyses, evaluate competitive positioning and organizational capabilities, and translate strategic choices into implementable plans with performance metrics. Learning is applied through cases, workshops, and a semester-long strategic planning project in which students develop a professional, evidence-based strategic plan for a tourism enterprise or destination. The final output includes a clear strategic direction, implementation roadmap, risk and resilience actions, and a KPI dashboard that supports monitoring and decision-making.
